blood

you're not gorgeous

not in a glamorous, glorified way

it's something more subtle,

much harder to say

you're something aspired to

often inquired about

at such times as when you're not around

i'd call you O-positive

(everyone's type)

a cherry that looms

looking fresh, looking ripe

still, you're not a match for my

vampire's blood

it's thick in my veins

slow and sludgy like mud

but i'm content to gaze

on your image in mirrors

(it shows up much clearer than mine.)
