double-jointed (info)
capo all strings but low E on 2nd fret:
The instructions for how to play this song might require a little clarification. The pattern is: hard bass pick that un-capo'd string, skip one, pick the last 3. Do the same for that A, only don't use that low E as your bass, use the capo'd A string. From this, the rest of the song becomes easy.
This was the last song written for this album. It's not the last track because the last track on my albums is always the least serious song in that batch. Despite the themes in this song, it's not really intended to be funny or satirical.
The title of this song is the only descriptive phrase in the song completely unrelated to paranormal phenomenon. It also describes the cracking of joints, a theme echoed in the overlapping 't' sounds from the double vocals. The title represents people with a special ability, much like people who can see ghosts while others around them can't. The third meaning is the way the capo is used in this song to let you get a bass note a capo 2 song shouldn't really have.
The first verse is about aliens, the second is about ghosts, and the last is about vampires. The only consistent rhyme pattern in this song is internalized in the lines, and only the first two verses even make an attempt at slant rhyme at the end of the lines.
On a final note, this is the only song where I solo on this whole CD, and it's not even a guitar solo, it's a whistle solo that utilizes the same notes as the verse and chorus.
