dragonfly
psychotnik (info)
capo 2nd chord formations:
I don't know if I can give a 'fair and balanced' analysis of this song. I came up with the title thinking it would be about one person, but the song is clearly about something else entirely. I'd change the title, but once the title's been picked it's a forever-decision that can't be changed by mortals like me.
In case you were wondering, the 'dragonfly' just means this girl changes her mind a lot, like a dragonfly buzzes in a straight line for a few feet, changes direction, and does the same thing again. Psychotnik is a fake Russian word in the same vein as peacenik and beatnik.
So some lyrical stuff. 'Speak crosswords' obviously has to do with 'cross words' like mean words. And I wonder what 'you think in tongues' means? Maybe someone who thinks in a language the songwriter can't parse? Could be a clue as to the deeper meaning of the whole song...
The chorus chords kind of remind me of those silent movies in the 1920's where the piano builds tension. The Bb7 and B7 used in this song were a pain in the ass to find, and they only work in the song in that exact conflagration (I know this because I tried every other way of doing them, and this is the best.)
