land of you (info)   [lyrics]

This is a peppy little tune about consumerism.  The theme is that even if you're a corporate slave, maybe it's not so bad.  After all, you want what they sell.  At least you think you do.  Everyone else seems to, and you don't want end up not being just like everybody else, right?

The truth is that you can win.  The easiest way would be to just stop working altogether.  You can become a bum on SSI and live in government housing and still enjoy much of what the corporations have to offer.  Tens of thousands of people do it.  I should know, I've met every single one of them.

I wish that were an exaggeration.

The people in charge don't lie because they're corrupt, they lie because from a sociologic standpoint, they have no choice.  You can't have some corporation sponsor you for a race and then not vote on legislature in a way that favors them.

This is turning into a rant.  I had a point when I started this, I swear.  Oh, I remember.  Here it is: all these billboards, all these products, all these titillating diversions, they're all here for your benefit.  Work, steal, gamble, hustle, the means are irrelevant; what matters is that money=fun and we all want to have fun, so let's get some money.
