let's go sailing (info)   [lyrics

capo 2nd chord formations:

Here's a song with lots of glaring grammatical inconsistencies.  That's the first thing you will notice when you listen to it, the second thing is that even if the grammar were correct, the song doesn't make much sense.  Or does it?

This is one of my favorite songs (no, they're not all my favorites. There are, in fact, some songs of mine that I don't like one bit...) it's my favorite because of how freaking sad and hopeless it is.  It makes me really depressed solely on the merits of the chords.

let's go driving, on a road that has no rails

let's us driving, 'till our tire pressure fails

The author obviously meant these lines as a metaphor for life, something where your safety isn't guaranteed and you must continue, regardless of your will, until you can't possibly go any more.

Profound, desu ne?

Every verse has a united theme of movement, signified by the use of gerunds as an ending to every verse's first line.  They go from slowest to fastest, from stationary sailing (no wind), to drifting, to marching, to driving.  The movement symbolizes escape, expressed through the chorus and its emphasis on that subject.

I didn't know any of this until just now when I started typing this page.  Amazing.  I'm so...deep.
