12.20.06/02:56  mu style

12.14.07/23:26  some japanese slang

dachi - friend (short for tomodachi)

satsu - cops (short for keisatsu)

kimoi - something causing bad feeling (kimochi warui)

uzai - annoying

mukatsuku - to feel sick or aggravated

moe - infatuation, a crush

bimyou - so-so

Some of these words have normal meanings as well, but I didn't list those because they aren't slangy.

It's been a strange week, full of all kinds of unnecessary nonsense I just don't want to deal with.  Like some cursing, screaming old guy threatening to talk to our building owners and have us evicted because of some poster on his vegetable stand or something.  And talking to the police about it, and being brushed off.

Here's a quote that I liked...did the cops say this? No...

"It's his job to go around to different businesses, screaming at people..."

No, they didn't say that.  I must have imagined it, because my Japanese is not so good.  And it just doesn't make sense, anyway...how could it be his job?  Who would his employers be?

Japan is so confusing.

Anyway, it's supposedly been resolved, so that's a relief.

In other news, all 8 strips from the first series of depravity's edge have been posted.  We will put that site on hiatus while we make new comics for the second series.  Should be good times, whenever we get around to making it.

12.4.07/22:37  one year away from home

Exactly one year, as of today.  It's funny, but I find it hard to believe.  In some ways it seems really short, but in other, more biting ways, it seems like it's been too long.  On a related note, Sunday was the 2Q, which I failed miserably.  It was good experience, though, and good motivation to begin studying for next year.

And the dep edge!  There was supposed to be an update by now!  And there isn't!  I know.  I've spent the last day working on this.  The company that hosts the server has screwed some things involving my frontpage extensions and it's really pissing me off.

Like REALLY.  PISSING.  ME OFF.

But I can't help it.  The really crappy thing will be if the site gets erased in the process and I have to put it back together again.  Should that happen, I will be irate, and probably break the internet in my wrath.  For the time being, peachycomics seems okay, though.  Have to keep an eye on that one, I guess.

I don't know what I should do to celebrate this milestone.  I did eat some curry earlier, and I might smoke.  Does that count?  No?

11.11.07/01:52  depravity's edge dot com

Yeah?  Yeah.  After months of planning and sketching and photoshopping and paint'ing and hacking, it's here: the dep edge site is finally finished.  You should stop reading this post and go straight to www.depravitysedge.com to find out what it's all about.

In talking about this project, I've realized that a few of you have questions.  I will attempt to answer them here to avoid future confusion, to allow the information to flow as freely as the wine.  Here we go...

Why do you need two websites?

Peachycomics.com ended up having very little to do with comics, so to put Dep Edge here would cloud its purpose, would give the impression this is my own project, when in reality, dep-edge has had the help of other talented people.

Who are the 'other talented people'?

Some of them wish to remain anonymous, but I can tell you that Nate has been helping with consulting, and Odaji-san helped by translating the entire comic (not the site) into Japanese.

What IS Depravity's Edge?

Depravity's Edge is a bilingual (English and Japanese) web-comic following the chain-smoking mercenary Dimitri Svengali on his misadventures.

Dep Edge doesn't link back here, or include any information about you, why?

Dep Edge isn't about me.  It's about the comics themselves.  This site is my way of pandering to my ego, while the other site isn't.  This site has become my *shudder* blog, and the other one is a project.  I think I should point out that I started peachycomics a very LONG time ago, before the onset of the blog phenomenon.

What happened to September and October?

They can be accessed in the archives, or by clicking here.  Since they were two very short months in terms of posts, I grouped them together.

When are you coming back to the 'states?

I DON'T KNOW!!  I.....don't....know.  Idon'tknow.  I, don't, know?  If I knew, you would know as well, because I would tell you.  You'd find out, somehow...somebody else would know and they'd tell you, or I'd tell you.  Somehow you'd know, and all these ways of knowing are independent of the process of asking me when I'm coming back.  So stop doing it.
