puppeteer

replacing strings with guitar wire
taking care to break the skin
what used to be a playful tug
ensures i'll never dance again

once wooden, how i craved a body
once i craved a human face
i wish they'd tossed me in the fire
now that i have seen this place

she cackles as she makes be gambol
flashing me that haughty grin
orchestrates contorted motions
much to my intense chagrin

one night i almost made my exit
close i came to being free
thought that i was close to freedom
sadly she discovered me

now the string's replaced with shackles
giant rusty clanking chains
before my days were filled with laughter
now they're filled with pain
