capo 3rd chord formations:

This song has all the exciting imagery of any biblically-influenced apocalyptic vision.  I'd be lying if I didn't admit it was at least partially influenced by the Left Behind books.  I won't deny that they're very contrived, but they're still entertaining.

The words are such a great contrast to the peppy chords, representing how I think the apocalypse will probably come amidst a torrent of political speeches telling people not to worry and that everything will be okay.  It's the difference between what people want you to hear and the underlying truth.

Also, this song has, in my opinion, one of the most complicated rhyme schemes I've used so far.

The chorus seems to demonstrate a firm belief in Fate, but it's actually misleading.  The thing I really believe firmly in is futility.  No amount of protesting or recycling or voting or complaining is going to change the fact that people are gullible, simple creatures willing to trade freedom for safety, to trade safety for survival, and to trade survival for a false cause (any cause: patriotism, religion, fame, etc.).
